The very basics of the process of recycling is to take waste material and turn it into a product for reuse, returning it back into the cycle of daily use in the community rather than discarding it as waste. Recycling in this way is often also called “Downcycling”.
Alternatively, upcycling would convert discarded materials into something of equal or greater value. Upcycling is the advanced stage of recycling because value is added, not removed, from recycled materials, and sets new goals for more efficient eco-designs. It also has potential economic value by providing from these waste products new products of higher value than the original product.
